Procrastinators will get an additional break thanks to New Year's Eve falling on a Sunday. The night deposit box at the old Jackson City Hall on North High Street will be open Saturday night, Sunday and Monday for people to drop off their taxes. City Collector Beverly Nelson said anyone leaving taxes in the box won't be charged a penalty.

The night deposit box will be closed permanently at 8 a.m. Tuesday. After that time, people with delinquent taxes may pay them at the new City Hall on Courthouse Square.
