CAIRO, Ill. -- Sealed bids will be accepted through Nov. 22 on tax-delinquent real estate and mobile home properties in Alexander County, Ill.
Alexander County has completed tax deed proceedings on 289 real estate properties that were delinquent for 2009 and 58 mobile home properties that were delinquent for 2010, according to a news release issued from Joseph E. Meyer, tax agent for the county. Alexander County is offering the properties for sale through a sealed-bid auction sale, and all bids must be in the Alexander County Treasurer's office, 2000 Washington Ave., Cairo, IL 62914, no later than the close of business Nov. 22.
The release said the sale of the properties will place the real estate and mobile homes into the hands of individuals who have an interest in owning them, and the county, as trustee, hopes the new owners will maintain the properties and keep the taxes paid. By eliminating abandoned properties, the appearances of neighborhoods should improve and the value of adjoining properties should increase, the release said.
The required minimum bid for real estate will be $640 and the minimum bid for mobile homes will be $695. All items will be sold to the highest sealed bid received on or before Nov. 22.
Bidder's packets and sale catalogs are available at the Alexander County Treasurer's office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or online at iltaxsale.com. For more sale information, contact the Auction Sale Department of the Alexander County Tax Agent's office at 800-248-2850 or 618-656-5744.
