TANNING SALON OPENS ITS DOORS IN JACKSON

JACKSON -- Tanfastiks Tanning Salon has opened at 410B West Main, next to Main Street Fitness Center.

The new tanning center opened Aug. 1.

"We have four tanning beds and all of them have facials," said Shelly Williams, manager. "They are 100-watt beds."

In addition to the tanning beds, the salon also carries Australian gold and Trevor Island brand suntan oils.

"We also have T-shirts for both of those brands," said Williams.

The business is owned by Brad and Carmen Simpher and Billy and Sheila King, all of Jackson. Williams said the tanning business was the first such venture for any of them.

Williams said the business has an agreement with neighboring business Main Street Fitness concerning child care. "Members there who have paid for babysitting can use the nursery while they tan," Williams said. "Or customers can pay a dollar for the nursery while they tan."

The salon is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday from 1-6 p.m.

The business is also offering first-month special prices, including one month of tanning for $49.
