As one of its final acts of business, the Missouri Census 2000 Complete Count Committee is seeking input from governmental entities, organizations and individuals on census operations in the state.
"We believe our efforts to achieve a complete and accurate census count in Missouri this year were successful, largely because of the partnerships we were able to build with local governments, schools, churches, businesses, and other organizations," said Secretary of State Bekki Cook, chair of the state Complete Count Committee.
"Now, before we bring our 13 months of work to a close, it is important to hear from all of our partners on how things went -- what worked well, what didn't work, and what could be improved for the future."
The survey seeks comments on promotional efforts, hiring for the temporary jobs, and overall census operations.
Cook said results of the survey would be reported to the U.S. Census Bureau and the Congressional Monitoring Board for Census 2000. She encouraged anyone with comments about the census to complete a survey as soon as possible.
Survey forms have been mailed to some of the organizations that were involved in census efforts. Survey forms are available by calling the Missouri State Library's Census Data Center at 1-800-325-0131, ext. 10 or on the secretary of state's Web site at www.mosl.sos.state.mo.us.
