An automobile accident Sunday night in Jackson took out a utility pole, causing power outages to 3,500 people, according to Chuck Reed, Jackson's electricity power plant operator. Of those customers, 1,500 had power restored within 45 minutes. The rest were without power for four hours.

The accident occurred around 11:30 p.m. Reed said the city was replacing the utility pole. He said the accident knocked out three main circuits.
