Students participating in Southeast Missouri Food Bank's 2009 Food Drive will be collecting food Saturday at Walmart in Cape Girardeau.
Students from Eagle Ridge Christian School, Malden High School, Notre Dame Regional High School, Oak Ridge High School, Oran High School, Sikeston High School and St. Vincent de Paul High School have been collecting food since Sept. 24.
The six-week food drive ends Thursday, and the schools will be awarded prizes for the most pounds or creative event. Students will be at Walmart from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The school that collects the most food in pounds Saturday will received an extra 250 pounds of food from the Sikeston, Mo., Walmart.
Oran Future Career and Community Leaders of America, one of the participating school groups, will also have a fundraising event Monday. The group organized an archery contest at Hot Shots Archery Range in Benton from 6 to 8 p.m. Contact Jill Siebert at jsiebert@oran.k12.mo.us for entry information.
