Sara Emerson, Amy Kiplinger and Tara Sanford are the September Students of the Month for Scott City High School.

The honor was given by the Elk's Lodge in recognition of outstanding achievement. The three seniors were nominated by classmates and teachers and selected by a special panel.

Emerson, 18, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Emerson of Scott City. She maintains an "A" grade-point average and is the top student in her class. She is active in the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, the Key Club and pep club. She is also a member of basketball, volleyball and track teams.

Emerson plans to attend college and study interior design or accounting.

Amy Kiplinger, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Crader of Scott City. She maintains an "A" average and has been honored by the Cape Exchange Club and Who's Who Among American High School Students. She is a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Future Teachers of America, National Honor Society, the yearbook staff and the pep club.

Kiplinger plans to study visual communications at Southeast Missouri State University.

Tara Sanford, 17, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Sanford of Scott City. She maintains a "B" average and is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Science Club, Future Business Leaders of America, and Model U.N. She also is a member of the basketball, volleyball, track and softball teams.

Sanford plans to attend college and study accounting.
