Southeast Missouri State University has announced the following students have received Regents' Scholarships to attend the university for the 1996-97 academic year.

They are Trae D. Meyr and Jamie L. Wessel, both of Chaffee, Carson V. Heady and Sven Andrew Rainey, both of Cape Girardeau, and Kara A. Westrich of Kelso and Melissa S. Burlbaugh, both of Scott City.

Meyr also received a Missouri Leadership Award to attend Southeast. He is the son of Larry and Judi Meyr of Chaffee and will be a 1996 graduate of Chaffee High School. He plans to major in political science. The Missouri Leadership Award is a $500 one-year award designed for Missouri students who have achieved an Enhanced ACT score of 22 or SAT score of 920 and a 3.0 grade-point average. Recipients must demonstrate leadership abilities.

Wessel is the daughter of Michael and Linda Wessel and will be a 1996 graduate of Chaffee High School.

Heady is the son of Chuck and Janet Heady and will be a 1996 graduate of Notre Dame High School

Westrich is the daughter of Glenda Westrich and Tim and Judy Westrich. She will be a 1996 graduate of Scott City. She plans to major in business management.

Rainey is the son of William and Carolyn Rainey.

Burlbaugh is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Burlbaugh and will be a 1996 graduate of Scott City High School. She plans to major in health management with a specialty in athletic training.

The Regents' Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who have achieved an Enhanced ACT score of 27 or SAT score of 1130.Students must also have a high school grade-point average of 3.5 or graduate in the top 10 percent of their classes.

The following students have been awarded President's Scholarships to attend the university: Michael G. Cook of Chaffee, Stayci L. Wendel of Jackson, Jacob C. Pattengill, Lori M. Bles and Robert J. Vetter, all of Scott City, Laura R. Sheets, Sean P. Hagan and Adam Joseph Click, all of Cape Girardeau.

Cook is the son of Kenneth and Diane Cooke and will be a 1996 graduate of Delta High School.

Wendel is the daughter of Sandy Wendel and Mike Wendel. She will be a 1996 graduate of Jackson High School. She plans to major in accounting.

Pattengill is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Pattengill Jr. and will be a 1996 graduate of Kelly High School in Benton. He plans to major in pre-physical therapy. He also received the Missouri Leadership Award.

Sheets is the daughter of Bob and Nita Sheets and will be a 1996 graduate of Cape Girardeau Central High School. She plans to major in elementary education. She also received the Girl's State Leadership Award. This award is a $300 one-time award given to beginning freshmen who have attended Girl's State and who have an ACT composite score of 22 or an SAT score of 920 and a 3.0 grade-point average after six or seven high school semesters.

Bles is the daughter of Francis and Anna Rose Bles and will be a 1996 graduate of Notre Dame High School.

Vetter is the son of Bob and Marie Vetter and will be a 1996 graduate of Scott City High School and plans to major in pre-engineering.

Hagan is the son of Patrick and Karen Hagan and will be a 1996 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He also received the Boy's State Leadership Award.

Click is the son of Gene and Linda Click and will be a 1996 graduate of Jackson High School.

The President's Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who rank at least in the upper 20 percent of their high school class and score 24 on the Enhanced ACT or 1,010 on the SAT. The scholarships also are awarded to students who are their class valedictorian or salutatorian and complete the core curriculum. The scholarship is worth $1,20 per academic year.

Lanson Ivan Debrock of Chaffee has been awarded a Missouri Leadership Award for the 1996-97 academic year.

He is the son of Ivan and JoAnn Debrock and will be a 1996 graduate of Notre Dame High School.
