Students awarded for academic achievement

Students from three Cape Girardeau high schools were honored at the John L. Blue Academic Excellence Dinner on Monday at the Southeast Missouri State University Center.

The dinner is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Rotary Club to honor the late Blue, editor of the Southeast Missourian for 20 years and a leader in church and charitable organizations. He began the academic excellence program in 1959.

Recognized students from Central High were: Nathan Bragg, Sara Burns, Allison Campbell, Patricia Cheung, Lisa Crain, Kevin Groves, Jaimie Harson, William Hood, Salman Khan, Megan Ladd, Katherine Maginel, Nina Mccrate, Colin McLain, Carissa Moore, Andrew Moreton, Lauren Parrent, Lindsey Pfanstiel, Rachel Pfanstiel, Whitney Pingel, Ashleigh Redfearn, Lauren Sulser, Meredith Toole, Jennifer Troutman, Cyntha Ulrich, Alisa Uzoaru, Lance West, Alexandra Wieser and Michael Zimmer.

Recognized students from Notre Dame Region High School were: Cody Bell, Cory Beussink, Amanda Boswell, Doris Dorlae, Dustin Haupt, Jill Heuschober, Annette Horrell, Casie Janet, Ashley Millham, Lisa Roe and Amanda Wozniak.

Recognized students from Eagle Ridge Christian School were: Andrew Mellies, Derek Rose and Cara Ervin.
