Matthew Strohmeyer, a senior vocal student at Quincy University in Quincy, Ill., was one of three finalists in the Illinois chapter of National Association of Teachers of Singing annual competition.
This year's event, held this month at the Moody Bible Institute, included three rounds of competition organized by age group and type of music performed. Strohmeyer competed in the Broadway music division of the auditions and, as a finalist, was invited to perform in an honors recital on the final day of the competition. He also received a cash award.
He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Strohmeyer of Cape Girardeau.
