ORAN -- Connie D. Simmons, formerly of Oran, graduated cum laude May 11 with a doct or of medicine degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.
Simmons is a graduate of Mineral Area College and Southeast Missouri State University, where she was honored as the first Academic All-American Athlete.
While attending medical school, she was the first recipient of the Dr. Raymond A. Ritter Scholarship made available through St. Francis Medical Center.
She is the daughter of Paul and Hermine Simmons of Oran, and has accepted a residency position at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis. She plans to specialize in Pediatric Critical Care.
