In front of Wal-Mart in Jackson, a nondescript strip mall is being built. Construction began May 1, with completion due in mid-August.
John Garay, project manager of Continental Construction, said similar strip malls are built throughout the United States, strategically placed, near Wal-Mart stores.
Typical tenants include: Dollar Tree, Fashion Bug, Cato's and Shoe Show.
Bob Webber, a top-notch superintendent of Klein Construction, owners of the property, finalized contracts with local subcontractors: Goggin Excavating, Apex Paving, Fronabarger Concreters, LT Masonry, S &S Structural Steel and Edgewater Glass.
As Garay put it: "Of all the jobs we have going on, this is one of the smoothest."
