This edition of Street Style veers south to Sikeston, Missouri, to highlight one fashionable woman's "work flow" outfit. I've also got a mini feature at La Boutique in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, featuring the style of one of their associates, Caela. There is some phenomenal fashion in our area, and I want to give Southeast Missouri women and men of style a chance to show it off.
First off is a pearl-wearing, Coco Chanel-quoting small-business owner just south of Cape Girardeau. Janna Ferrell is a mother of four and owns a Shelter Insurance agency in Sikeston. Whether she's running her business or cheering her children on at a soccer game, she's definitely looking great doing it.
Janna sent me her morning selfie, and she looks phenomenal in her bold-colored spring blazer and on-trend cream blouse with a ruffle hem. This look shows she is a master of accessories, with the gold necklaces and watches accenting a cool black clutch with gold trim. What better way to top off a look than with good shoes -- and leopard pumps, at that!
Janna wanted to share a few of her fashion tips with Flourish readers:
* Accessorizing and layering are key.
* The last accessory added is always removed before I walk out the door (via the incomparable Coco Chanel).
* Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. You would be surprised how good you can make yourself look.
* Forget fashion rules. Make your own.
* It doesn't matter if you are skinny as can be or need to lose a few pounds -- it's all about finding a style that suits your personality and making sure you are wearing the appropriate size.
* The most important thing is owning your look. The confidence you wear as a woman will always look better on you than any piece of clothing.
Our second feature hails from Poplar Bluff. La Boutique is a large shop that houses clothes, baby items, jewelry and furniture. The business, owned by Lilliana and Rick Hurst, turned 16 on April 1 and is at 1929 N. Westwood Blvd.
Our fashionista is Caela Ventura, a vinyl specialist at the boutique. Caela looks camera-ready and was wearing one of the store's Curvy Girl fashions to work. You can find almost her entire look at La Boutique. Her olive swing dress is easy to wear and a great spring dress to transition into summer. The fabric is lightweight and the long sleeves are accommodating for cool nights. Swing dresses look great with heels or ballerina flats, or you can spice it up with cowboy boots. Caela looks ready for the world with her on-trend camel-color purse accessorizing her look. She added some flair to her dress with a faux fur vest with faux fur camel trim. She looks phenomenal.
Take a trip down to Poplar Bluff and you can find her look and much more! The store sells fashions up to size 3X. Find La Boutique on Facebook and Instagram.
If you know an impeccably dressed young man or woman, you can nominate them for a feature in Street Style. Send an email to buytheriversemo@gmail.com.
