Children may sign up today and Friday for a how-to clinic being sponsored by Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse.
Each month, the company hosts a free workshop to teach children in grades two through five how to build or grow things. More children are attending the events as the series progresses, said Lowe's assistant manager Dave Quinn.
Although the clinics are free, parents are encouraged to call the store and register their students for each event so that enough supplies are on hand.
The program is one in a number of service projects Lowe's sponsors to help youth and others in the community. The Cape Girardeau store also plans to participate in the company's Heroes Program.
Each month, Lowe's employees will volunteer with other stores or agencies to complete a project that benefits their local community. Past projects have included installation of fire alarms, building wheelchair ramps for the elderly, and fixing homes for the underprivileged.
The children's clinics and Hero's Program will continue through December. To become involved in either program, contact Lowe's at (573) 335-6500.
