Stop sign added in uptown Jackson

The intersection of Adams and Missouri streets in uptown Jackson near the school has been made a four-way stop.

The Jackson Board of Aldermen voted Monday night to add the stop signs on Adams.

City officials say the intersection had a high rate of accidents and near misses, partially due to limited visibility and some motorists' expectations that traffic on Adams would stop, because most of the intersections in the area are four-way.

In addition to permanent stop signs, the city has erected barricades to make motorists aware of the change.
