KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- An investigation searching for Internet sex predators led to eight arrests and at least 13 other potential cases, authorities said. Federal and regional law enforcement agencies from throughout the Kansas City area conducted Operation Police Over Shoulder from Aug. 29 through Thursday. Platte County Sheriff Dick Anderson said law officers working at a computer bank posed on Internet chat sites as girls who were 14 years old or younger.
Officers arrested five people in the Kansas City area from Aug. 29 through Friday when they arrived at what they thought was a sexual rendezvous with a girl. Three arrests were made in Wichita. Charges have not been filed in four of the Kansas City area cases because authorities were searching for more evidence.
