Stereo One Inc., an audio and video store, will move to a building under construction at 345 S. Kingshighway from its present location at 240 Silver Springs Rd.
"The 10,300 square foot facility will expand Stereo One's display and service areas by 30 percent over its present operation," said company president John Selby.
The building will incorporate new concepts in the audio and video industry. Almost 1,000 square feet will be a "home theater" that will allow demonstrating stereo and video systems in a variety of living environments, according to Selby.
The new store will also feature four stereo listening rooms, a large car stereo area including a demonstration vehicle, waiting rooms, four car stereo installation bays, and a camcorder gallery.
"There have been a number of significant new technologies that we've had to postpone because we simply did not have the facility to display and demonstrate them effectively," Selby said. "The new facility will allow us to offer those new consumer products and services that will be very much in demand in the next decade."
The building is scheduled to be completed around the end of November. It is situated between Spanky's convenience store and Cape Color World.
Columbia Construction Co. of Cape Girardeau is building it. Company spokesman John Jansen said it will have a structural steel frame and drivet exterior.
Stereo One has been in operation since 1980 and employs 20 people.
