Steam train to stop in Cape Girardeau in early June

Union Pacific's steam locomotive No. 844 will be in Cape Girardeau on June 4 and 5 as part of Union Pacific's Great Excursion Adventure. Train enthusiasts selected the steam engine's route, The Little Rock Express, in an online voting contest earlier this year.

The steam engine will arrive about 2:30 p.m. at 500 Aquamsi St. on June 4. It will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 5.

It will leave Cape Girardeau at 8 a.m. on June 6, stopping briefly in Dexter, Mo., and Poplar Bluff, Mo., later that day.

The tour begins May 29 in Kansas City, Mo., and ends June 9 in North Little Rock, Ark.
