A Ste. Genevieve, Mo., woman was injured Thursday afternoon when the off-road vehicle on which she was riding fell into a sinkhole, the Perry County Sheriff's Department reported.
Michael Kohlfeld was driving Mary Crowell, 28, a government employee, out to check for compliance with food plots Kohlfeld had planted when the vehicle fell into the sinkhole and overturned, trapping Crowell underneath, the department reported in a news release.
Kohlfeld was driving through tall grass and failed to see the sinkhole until it was too late, the release stated.
The sheriff's department received a call about the accident shortly after 3 p.m. Perry County sheriff's deputies, Perry County Ambulance and the Beihle Fire Department responded to the call, the release stated.
Emergency workers pulled the vehicle off Crowell, who suffered non-disabling injuries and was taken by ambulance to Perry County Memorial Hospital, the release stated.
