Her new term will expire on June 30, 2000.

Because she had been previously confirmed, Cook was not required to appear before the Senate Gubernatorial Appointments Committee.

Sen. Peter Kinder, R-Cape Girardeau, sponsored Cook's appointment on the Senate floor. Cook was confirmed by the Senate on a voice vote.
