JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Most Missouri state offices will close Friday and most employees will have the day off for a national day of mourning for former President Reagan.
Federal offices and major financial markets will also be closed Friday to honor the late president. Reagan, 93, died Saturday of pneumonia after a long fight with Alzheimer's disease.
Gov. Bob Holden said the state closure was "in keeping with Missouri's tradition of honoring our presidents in this fashion."
Holden spokeswoman Mary Still said state offices also closed when Lyndon Johnson died in 1973 and Harry Truman died in 1971.
