Dorothy L. Arnzen was recently selected as the Missouri State Employee of Month for November by the Governor's Advisory Committee on Productivity. She is employed by the Division of Youth Services in Cape Girardeau.
"Dorothy is a credit, not only to all Department of Social Services employees, but to the more than 60,000 state employees from whom she was selected to be selected State Employee of the Month," said DSS Director Gary Stangler.
As a special education teacher, Arnzen is responsible for coordinating the educational component of the SEMO Day Treatment Program which is a joint program between the Division of Youth Services and the Criminal Justice Department of Southeast Missouri State University.
A resident of Leopold, she is married to Ervin J. Arnzen Sr. She earned her bachelor degree in elementary and special education and master's degree in special education from Southeast Missouri State University, and a Ph.D. in educational administration with an emphasis on adult and continuing education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Ill.
