Narrow miss: Josh Minson, Jackson's number one cross country runner this season, narrowly missed a state cross country berth by just over a second. He placed 34th in sectional action, in 17:38.
Mouser leads: Krista Mouser again led the JHS girls' cross country team at the sectional meet, with an 18th place finish (20:46). The entire girls' squad qualified for sectional competition and placed fifth one place from a team state berth.
Repeat qualifier: Carol Koenig qualified for her second cross country state meet this weekend, finishing in 22nd place in the sectional meet, with a time of 21:01.
Go strongly: Joe Golightly was the lone state qualifier for the boys' cross country team. His time of 17:18 on the hilly Jefferson Barracks course, placed him 22nd in the sectional meet and advanced him to Jefferson City for the Class 4A boys' state meet this weekend. He was the first JHS boy to qualify for state since 1997.
