The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded two multimillion-dollar contracts to Apex Paving Co. for projects in Scott, Mississippi, Cape Girardeau and Bollinger counties during its regular meeting Thursday.
The commission awarded Apex Paving a $5.07 million contract to resurface and improve shoulders along Interstate 57 in Mississippi and Scott counties. Crews will be working from County Road 401 to Route AA near Charleston, Mo. There will also be improvements from east of Route B to Route AA near Miner, Mo. Work could begin in April and is expected to be complete by November.
Apex Paving also received a $1.14 million contract for improvements along Highway 34/51 in Bollinger County and Route D in Cape Girardeau County. Route 34/51 will be resurfaced from west of County Road 402 to County Road 502 in Marble Hill. Work on Route D in Cape Girardeau County will extend from U.S. 61 to the west city limit of Jackson. Work is set to begin in the spring and is expected to be complete by fall.
Drivers are urged to take alternate routes if possible.
