Archdiocese, Polish parish still in standoff

ST. LOUIS -- On the day St. Louis Archbishop Raymond Burke set as a deadline for leaders of a Polish parish to turn over control of governance and assets, parish leaders said no agreement had been reached. Burke has warned the six-member lay board at St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church that they could be denied sacraments if they failed to agree to changes by Friday. An archdiocese spokesman said the archdiocese was still waiting to see whether the parishioners would comply.

University of Missouri system raises tuition

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- The University of Missouri Board of Curators on Friday approved the system's smallest tuition increase in four years, a 3.5 percent rise starting this June. The vote means base undergraduate tuition will increase to $216.52 per credit hour across the four campuses. Students pursuing some majors will pay more, depending upon the major.
