A state commission seeking ideas for how to provide better service will be in Cape Girardeau today for public testimony.

The Missouri State Government Review Commission will hold a hearing at 9 a.m. at Southeast Missouri State University's Show Me Center, 1333 N. Sprigg St.

The commission was created by Gov. Matt Blunt to examine where state government can eliminate duplication of agency functions, achieve cost savings and generally increase the efficiency of state government. The commission was also directed to look for ways to eliminate outdated or burdensome bureaucratic rules.

Area commission members include co-chairman Stephen Bradford, president of Pyramid Tri-County Health Services, Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder and Gary Rust, owner of Rust Communications.
