All students attending the ceremony scored as well as or better than the average college-bound high school senior on either the SAT or ACT. These tests are administered as part of an annual talent Search, which TIP has operated since 1980.

"Exceptional academic talent is a precious national resource that is often undervalued or ignored in our society," said TIP's executive director David Goldstein. "For many outstanding young people, recognition from TIP is an important source of support and encouragement for their efforts."

Over 60,000 mathematically and verbally gifted seventh-graders were identified by the Talent Search this year.
