The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra will return to the River Campus of Southeast Missouri State University on Wednesday to perform selections from the legendary Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
The performance by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the Donald C. Bedell Performance Hall.
The symphony, conducted by Steven Jarvi, will present selections from Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake Suite Op. 20a" followed by a brief intermission, then pieces from "Symphony No. 4 in F minor Op. 36" will be performed.
Bob Cerchio, assistant director of the River Campus, said he was excited about the program.
"'Swan Lake' is one of the most well-known of Tchaikovsky's works," Cerchio said, "but in addition, his fourth symphony is one of his most beautiful. I want to hear these magnificent works performed in their entirety by one of the finest symphonies in the world."
Tickets are $45 and $39 and may be purchased by contacting the River Campus box office, 518 S. Fountain St., weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by calling 651–2265. Tickets also may be bought online at rivercampusevents.com.
