ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Louis polling places are reporting good turnout as voters take part in the national election.
Gary Stoff, Republican director for the St. Louis Board of Elections, says St. Louis polling places have been very busy Tuesday, and no major problems have been reported.
Stoff says most of the polling places have had lines since they opened, and he expects more voters to begin showing up later in the afternoon as they head home from work.
Stoff says the turnout at mid-day isn't what it was in 2008, the last presidential election, when St. Louis had a voter turnout of about 77 percent. But he says he wouldn't be surprised if the city came close to matching that number by the time polls closed.
