ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis police officer is hospitalized after her patrol car was involved in an early-morning accident. ST. LOUIS (AP) -- A St. Louis police officer is hospitalized after her patrol car was involved in an early-morning accident.

The single-car crash happened about 4:25 a.m. Tuesday when the cruiser struck a utility pole. The accident closed the busy intersection of Manchester and Kingshighway for some time.

Investigators say the officer was not on a call at the time of the wreck, and they're still trying to figure out how it happened.

The officer's name was not released. Authorities say she has a broken collarbone and broken leg, but is expected to survive.
