Cape Girardeau have arrested St. Louis man after a firearm was discharged along North Street Tuesday night, Cape Girardeau police said.
About 9:30 p.m., police received reports of shots being fired in the 500 block of North Street, Lt. Dennis Dolan said. Two officers responded and found a man who witnesses said had been shooting a firearm, Dolan said.
Police told the man to stop, but he continued walking away from them along the street. He continued this for about a block and a half, ignoring multiple requests to stop. The man finally stopped as the officers pulled up next to him in two patrol cars, Dolan said.
A gun has not been recovered yet, police said.
Arrested was Sean C. Williams, 20, of St. Louis, Mo. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and fleeing lawful detention. Williams was being held on Tuesday at the city jail in lieu of $500 bond.
