ST. LOUIS -- The St. Louis Art Museum is preparing to debut a $160 million expansion.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported the public will have the first look June 29 at the new East Building.

British architect David Chipperfield designed the 210-square-foot building, with its dark polished facade, skylights and concrete coffers. It's Gold LEED-certified, features 21 galleries, an underground garage, a restaurant and a gift shop. The project also includes new classrooms, flooring and updated galleries in the main and south buildings.

About $30 million is set aside to help fund increased operating costs.
