The Southeast District Square Dance Clubs will host a Promenade Aug. 4 to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
The dance will be held at 1 p.m. at Stroder Country Hall, off Hwy. 72 W. (at 1820 Old Toll Road) in Jackson.
Local dance club members and the public are invited to participate in the event. Proceeds will help St. Jude Hospital do research, find cures and treat children who suffer from cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases.
Participants are invited to square dance with club members, line dance with Donna Gertis, dance to live music played by the Country Kicks band or just enjoy seeing the costumes and dancing.
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which operates from public support, was founded by Danny Thomas. Care at St. Jude is provided at no cost to the family.
Fund raising costs for St. Jude Hospital remain at 11 percent, one of the lowest of any national charity. Eighty one percent of every dollar goes to current or future needs of the hospital.
The event is co-sponsored by the Southeast District Square Dance Federation and Aid Association for Lutherans, Branch 1621.
