One lane of Sprigg Street in the residential area between Highway 74 and Southern Expressway will be closed starting today, weather permitting. According to a news release from Cape Girardeau, crews will begin putting an asphalt overlay on this section of street, and the work should end by June 19. One lane will be closed with flagmen directing traffic. Motorists are advised to use alternate routes during the day, but the road will be open to traffic in both directions at night. Parking along this section of Sprigg Street won't be allowed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. while the work continues. The project is the first of 28 in this year's asphalt overlay program, the news release said.
