Rich T. Pisani,
president of Missouri "2004 World's Fair Committee," will discuss a proposed high-speed rail system at a meeting of the
Southeast Missouri State University Marketing Club
May 1.
Pisani will present at 7:45 p.m. videotaped segments of his
Bullet Train proposal during club members' spring banquet in the
Show Me Center.
Bullet trains, a magnetically charged rail system in which trains glide
along an elevated track, can reach speeds of approximately 300
miles an hour. High-speed train corridors from St. Louis to Kansas
City have been proposed by Pisani and fellow committee
members to lure the World's Fair and Olympics to Missouri in 2004.
Pisani, a Democratic candidate for Missouri lieutenant governor, is a Southeast alumnus. He is founding president of the university's St. Louis alumni chapter. A reception for Pisani, hosted by the Alumni Center, will be held from 6-7 p.m.
Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. in the Show Me Center. Tickets are $12.50. Reservations are recommended. For more information, call (314) 651-2924.
