Women's Club to meet with Crowell

The Cape Girardeau County Republican Women's Club will meet at 11:45 a.m. Friday at Holiday Inn. Rep. Jason Crowell will speak about the prescription program for senior citizens.

Benefit supper planned by Scott City Schools

Scott City Schools will sponsor a chili and chicken noodle soup supper from 4:30-7 p.m. Friday at the school cafeteria. Proceeds will be used to help cover medical costs for Mike Woods, a teacher at the school who is undergoing cancer treatments.

Tickets are $4 for adults and $3 for children. Carry-outs are available. Donations also are being accepted for the Woods benefit fund. A raffle will be held in conjunction with the benefit meal. The drawing will be during the football game later that evening.

Fall dance planned at St. Vincent's gym

The Beginning Experience is sponsoring a dance at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at St. Vincent's gym in Cape Girardeau. Music will be by Larry Miller Sound System. The event is open to the public.

Audubon Society hosts trip next Saturday

The Four Seasons Audubon Society will host a trip on the Mississippi River at 10 a.m. Oct. 6 at the Missouri Department of Conservation boat dock in Cape Girardeau. Bob Hravik will lead the trip. The public is invited, but reservations are required. Call Ann Green at 335-0615 by Monday for reservations.

Family reunions to be held

The Amelunke reunion will be at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Cape Girardeau County Park North, shelter No. 8. There will be a carry-in meal.

The Klaus family will gather at the Trinity Lutheran Church parish hall in Friedheim, Mo., Oct. 7 for a reunion. Those attending should bring a basket dinner and table service.

AARP plans meeting on preparedness Monday

The Cape Girardeau County Chapter of AARP 4041 will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. Ron MacCubbin will present a program on preparedness. MacCubbin is director of emergency services for the American Red Cross office in Southeast Missouri.
