Jerry Mallett, the Reading Doctor, will present ideas to motivate children to read through humor at the Southeast Missouri Council of the International Reading Association meeting Saturday.
The program will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the University Center on the Southeast Missouri State University campus.
Mallett is an author of children's books, speaker and storyteller.
"Many children who can read ... don't," Mallett said. "This presentation provides practical ideas to `turn on' young people to reading through humorous children's books."
The program is being sponsored by Perma-Bound publishers.
In addition to the presentation by Mallett, the International Reading Association is holding its fall conference Saturday.
