There are limited openings in beginning and intermediate Internet training classes offered by the Southeast Missouri Web staff in February.
The classes are held in the Dempster College of Business. Southeast Missouri State University is a co-sponsor of the community training.
There are 14 openings remaining in the Feb. 2 beginning class, set from 7 to 9 p.m. The class is designed for beginners who want to learn more about the Internet and World Wide Web. Practical surfing tips will be offered along with informational handouts.
Instruction is limited to a single session. Each class is limited to 38 people so each has a computer. Cost of the beginning class is $10.
In addition, six openings remain in the intermediate Internet offering. It is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 9. Cost of the intermediate class is $15. Participants will learn more about e-mail, chat, desktop pagers, downloading, wallpaper, screensavers, etc., and receive a number of informational handouts.
The Missourian Web crew has taught more than 1,000 people since first offering Internet training in spring 1997. The intermediate classes began this month.
Classes typically draw from a large region. Attendees have traveled from Benton, Sikeston, Marble Hill, Wyatt, Farmington, Ste. Genevieve, and Miller City and McClure in Illinois. People trained have ranged from 8 to 94.
Upcoming classes include: Beginning Internet March 2, 1 to 3 p.m. and April 6, 7 to 9 p.m.; Intermediate Internet: March 9, 7 to 9 p.m. and April 13, 7 to 9 p.m.
