The system has been operational since April 16. The sirens are tested regularly at noon on the first Wednesday of the month.

School officials said the test was canceled last month because of the threat of severe weather.

Seven sirens, which allow for sound alarms and verbal messages, were erected to provide emergency warning campuswide. The sirens are near the Abe Stuber Track and Field complex, the parking lot near the Student Recreation Center, the Group Housing complex, near the Scully Building, near Crisp Hall, north of Houck Stadium and near the new transit facility off Washington Street.
