MARTIN, Tenn. -- Southeast Missouri State's softball team was the victim of a perfect game, as the Redhawks opened Ohio Valley Conference play Saturday.
Tennessee-Martin swept a doubleheader from visiting Southeast, winning 5-2 and 2-0. Megan Mizell pitched a perfect game in the nightcap.
Mizell, a sophomore from Vienna, Ill., retired all 21 batters she faced, striking out six. The closest Southeast came to a hit was in the fifth inning when Stephanie Huffman sent a drive to right field, but Christa Webb made a diving catch.
The Skyhawks improved to 15-6 overall and 2-0 in the OVC, while the Redhawks fell to 9-8 and 0-2. The squads will complete their three-game series 1 p.m. today.

UTM jumped to an early lead in the opener, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding one more in the second, while allowing both Southeast runs in the fourth.
Freshman Megan McDonald, a Central High School product, had two of Southeast's seven first-game hits, including a double. Charlene Ramirez also doubled.
