Southeast Missouri will be well represented at Busch Stadium June 3.
Ticket sales have reached the 1,500 mark for Southeast Night, when the St. Louis Cardinals take on the Cleveland Indians. The event is co-sponsored by Southeast Missouri State University and the Southeast Missourian.
It's not too late to be considered for 12 prizes that will be drawn tomorrow. Twelve lucky winners will be chosen among those who purchased tickets. The winners will be chosen by seat number.
Eight individuals will get to go down on the field during batting practice. They will also receive a photograph taken with a Cardinal player. In addition, one person will be chosen to throw out the honorary pitch that night.
Three more winners will each receive two vouchers for future Cardinal game tickets.
A coupon to order tickets appears in today's paper on Page 4B. Mail orders are discouraged because of the tight time frame. Orders should be faxed, phoned in at 651-5159 or dropped by the Alumni Services office in front of the Show Me Center. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Ticket sales will continue through next Friday, May 19.
The pre-game party is sold out. However, 30 spots remain on the eight buses that will take more than 300 Southeast Night participants to the game. Individuals who purchase those bus seats will still be able to buy pre-game tickets.
The pre-game party, which includes an all-you-can-eat buffet and beverages, begins at 5 p.m. at the Sverdrup Terraces, just to the east of the ballpark.
T-shirts with the Southeast Night logo are expected to arrive this week. About 90 extra T-shirts are available.
