SOUTHEAST MISSOURI RED CROSS HOSTS 84TH ANNUAL MEETING

The Southeast Missouri Chapter of the American Red Cross held its 84th annual meeting on Tuesday to elect 2001-2002 board members, recognize retiring board members and present awards.

The event was at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

More than 3,000 volunteers in 18 Southeast Missouri counties serve the area's needs through the Red Cross. They give aid to victims of major disasters and house fires, delivery emergency communications and loans to military personnel, conduct health education classes, coordinate services for the elderly and disabled and assist in blood collection for transfusions.

Retiring board

Retiring board members were Evelyn Boardman, Reginald Gipson and Everett Hey. Dr. Morris Osburn was retiring board chairman.

Superior Service Awards went to: Area Wide United Way, Cingular Wireless, Cox and Associates, Cape Girardeau Naval Reserve Training Center, Du'Shell's Furniture, Innovative Idea Integration, MVP Cellular, Ila Niswonger and Sam's Club.

Chapter staff
