Southeast Missouri Hospital recently participated in an international research project developed by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.
Known as Thunder Project, the study provided data to help evaluate current technology in maintaining arterial pressure lines.
The goal of the research, said Diane Holzum, Southeast's clinical nurse specialist in critical care, is to decrease complications that critically ill patients could face. Holzum served as clinical research site coordinator for Southeast.
Thunder Project is the largest clinical nursing research study supported by the nursing specialty organization. More than 325 institutions are identified as Thunder Project sites.
