Southeast Hospital celebrated its HealthGrades 2011 ranking as the No. 1 hospital in Missouri for vascular surgery during a news conference Thursday.
The hospital also received several top 10 state rankings and three HealthGrades Awards for patient safety, outstanding patient experiences and prostatectomy excellence.
Southeast was ranked by HealthGrades as second in Missouri for coronary interventional procedures, fourth in prostatectomies, sixth in cardiology services, seventh in overall orthopedic services, eighth in overall cardiac services and 10th for stroke treatment.
"SoutheastHEALTH, and specifically Southeast Hospital, has a long and well-deserved reputation as the home of some of the finest and highest quality health care services in this region," CEO Debbie Linnes said. "And now, through its own independent study of our outcomes, compared to those of thousands of other hospitals across the country, HealthGrades can confirm that Southeast stands among the leading health care providers in Missouri in a variety of clinical areas including cardiology and overall cardiac services, orthopedics, stroke treatment, urology and vascular services."
HealthGrades provider services consultant Marry Sweet presented awards to hospital staff during the news conference.
The organization evaluates 5,000 hospitals annually, looking at mortality and complication rates for 27 medical procedures. HealthGrades rankings can be found at www.healthgrades.com/.
Southeast is five-star rated by HealthGrades for carotid surgery for the third year in a row, prostatectomies for two years in a row, treatment of stroke for the third straight year, coronary interventional procedures and hip fracture repair. A five-star rating indicates that Southeast's clinical performance was significantly better than expected, based on federally reported outcomes data.
