A concert of musical compositions by Southeast Missouri State University faculty members Sterling Cossaboom and Robert Fruehwald will be presented at 8 tonight in the University Center Ballroom.
Cossaboom is chairman of the music department and Fruehwald is an assistant professor of music.
The concert will include Cossaboom's "Statement and Transformations for Alto Trombone," "Song for Flute and Piano" and "Five Movements for Flute, Trumpet and Percussion." Fruehwald's "Sonata for Flute and Piano" and "Hymn to St. Magnus" also will be performed. The concert will end with a music video by Fruehwald, "Metamorphosis of my Cat Fletcher."
Concert performers include John Mead, trombone; Paul Thompson, flute; Marc Fulgham, trumpet; Dan Dunavan, percussion; and Robin McDermott, piano.
The concert is free with a Southeast I.D.; otherwise a modest admission fee will be charged.
Lecture demonstrations of Cossaboom's and Fruehwald's music, which are free and open to the public, will be presented in the University Center Ballroom at 9 a.m., 1 and 2 p.m. today. Technology obtained by the music department for its computerized classroom will be demonstrated.
