JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Jay Nixon announced Friday he appointed Donald LaFerla of Carthage, Mo., to the board of regents of Southeast Missouri State University.
According to a news release issued by Nixon's office, LaFerla has been appointed to a term as a regent that will expire Jan. 1, 2019.
LaFerla obtained his bachelor's degree in biology and geology from Southeast in 1961, and he has completed coursework toward a master's degree in engineering administration from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
LaFerla has served on Southeast's Foundation board and on the Missouri Southern State University Foundation board. LaFerla is a retired senior corporate executive from Leggett and Platt Inc., makers of an array of products, and he has held leadership positions for several not-for-profit and civic boards.
LaFerla's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Missouri Senate, the release said.
