The 10 Cape Girardeau chapters of Beta Sigma Phi sorority will observe Founder's Day on April 30.
The event will be held at the Cape Girardeau Country Club beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Chairman is Mrs. Dale Smith, president of Alpha Rho chapter. Mrs. Fred Dormeyer will present the special message from the international executive council of Beta Sigma Phi.
Awards will be presented during the evening to outstanding chapter members, recognizing them for their sorority and community work.
Throughout the 61 years of their history, members have enjoyed programs for cultural studies and numerous social events, and as a result of personal growth they came to devoate much of their time and effort to service.
There are 12,500 Beta Sigma Phi chapters with 250,000 members throughout the world.
A typical year finds the chapters donating more than $3 million directly to local charities, reflecting more than two million work hours. The chapters created their own international funds for purposes they selected.
The International Endowment Fund has donated more than $2 million to health research groups, to homes for underprivileged children, and to other worthwhile causes.
Through the sorority's International Loan and Scholarship Funds, members and their families receive assistance.
