SORORITIES' PHILANTRHOPY NIGHT THURSDAY

Southeast Missouri State University sororities will hold their first Philanthropy Night Thursday.

Philanthropy Night will allow 800 sorority women and potential members the chance to jointly engage in a service project devoted to the chapter's national or local philanthropy.

"The goal is to help the community and children and to show potential sorority members that it takes a team to accomplish something, said Hayley Veulemans, a graduate assistant for student involvement.

Philanthropy Night begins at 5:30 p.m. in the University Center.

Alpha Chi Omega will take "care purses" to the Women's Safe House in Cape Girardeau. The care purses are boxes filled with toiletries for women.

Alpha Delta Pi will make "courage lions" for children at the Ronald McDonald House in St. Louis.

Alpha Xi Delta will make "All About Me" books for children at Children's Hospital in St. Louis. There, children will fill in the book about favorite colors, hobbies and foods.

Delta Delta Delta will make memory books for children at Shriner's Hospital in St. Louis. They will glue quotes about strength and perseverance into the books. Children will fill the memory books with descriptions of their stay and pictures of friends they met at the hospital.

Gamma Phi Betta will make "sit upons" for the Otahkian Girl Scouts in Cape Girardeau.

Sigma Sigma Sigma will make cards to attach to tie-dyed socks for the children at Cardinal Glennon Hospital.
