Some 250 electric utility customers in Jackson will be without power until the first of next week, the City of Jackson said in a news release sent out just after 10:30 a.m. today.
As of noon Wednesday, all of the city's electrical circuits had been restored, but about 500 customers scattered across the city were still reporting power outages, the news release said.
"At the present time, we are anticipating that power will be restored to half of these by late Friday evening, while the remaining 250 should see electricity back on sometime near the first of next week," the release said.
Crews will be working throughout the weekend and into next week until power is fully restored, the release said, and there will be periods during the next few days when power will be interrupted throughout the city. Those who've already had power restored shouldn't be alarmed by temporary outages, city officials say.
Those who need their individual service lines reconnected are being encouraged to call 243-2300 or 243-3568.
