KENNETT, Mo. -- A sobriety checkpoint by the Kennett Police Department and the Southeast Missouri DWI Task Force on Friday night produced 58 citations.
The checkpoint was set up just east of the Kennett Country Club off U.S. 412.
Police checked 725 cars, including east- and westbound traffic. Seven felony warrant arrests were made, including one drug arrest. Two people were arrested for DWI, along with 10 arrests for driving with a suspended or revoked license. The checkpoint netted 14 incidents of driving without an operator's license or an invalid license.
Ten seat-belt violations were cited, as well as two child restraint violations. Six of the traffic stops revealed a failure to register the vehicle, and there were 14 incidents of invalid or no vehicle insurance. Twenty-seven vehicles were towed as a result of violations.
